Ski Weekend Update

Summer is here!

Winter 2007/2008 is finally over. A very successful season that will be remembered for lots of snow right from the first weekend in December all the way through to the May bank holiday.

Now that the summer is here at Ski Weekend we don't just put our feet up and wait for the next snow....

The skis may have gone back in the garage but the walking boots and mountain bikes are now being dusted off for the coming season.

Have a look at our summer programme on our sister site www.nodeckchair.com.

Walking, biking and activity short breaks based in Chamonix and beyond.

If you haven't been to the Alps in the summer before then now is the time to visit!

Chamonix is more relaxed outside of winter without the rush for the first lift in the morning - warm sunny days, cool evenings and plenty to keep you entertained.

Ski AllWeek ::: Summer Programme ::: Last Summer

Last Summer

The ski season came to an end on May 4th, with the biggest snowfall of the winter. There were metres of snow and nobody around.

In fact the whole summer was plagued with bad weather and snow at high altitude although one exceptionally hot spell at the end of May early June saw us swimming in the lakes and sunbathing.

The best weekend of the summer was 14th 15th September. We had classic alpine weather; cool in the morning and 25 degrees during the day, clear starry skies at night.

Fortunately this coincided with the wedding of an old friend and client in Chamonix. 120 guests in attendance, Ski Weekend organised the venue, all the guests travel arrangements, and the weekend's activities in the Chamonix valley.

Weddings, stag and hen weekends are all activities that Ski Weekend have become involved in over the years. Fantastic venues, great activities, in unique surroundings. Organised and run by the Ski Weekend team.

Alpine adventures through Summer

10 Groups of guests reached the summit of Mont Blanc (including a father and son team), the summit attempts are 5 day minimum programmes and can begin as early as April and into June on skis, running through until mid October via the more traditional method of walking and hiking.

The typical summer routes are via the route des Bossons or, as we prefer, from the Refuge des Cosmiques and then up via the Trois Têtes - Mont Blanc du Tacul, Mont Maudit, and Mont Blanc.

Guests also played golf! Went Mountain Biking, Rock climbing, canyonning, horse riding, bridge swings, and some just chilled out enjoying the ambience of the mountains and the superb views.

Gavin Foster took many guests tandem paragliding, and ran the Joint Services Alpine Paragliding Expedition based in Annecy (duration 3 weeks).

Chalet les Jumelles, was taken by a group of Scottish Country dancers, Mont Blanc climbing Guests, a 40th Birthday party, paraglider pilots, strategic planning meetings, management training, and Families taking Alpine holidays.

The Chalet is available catered as in the winter on a bed and Breakfast basis, or self catered.

Our website www.chaletskiweekend.com has more details about Chalet Les Jumelles.
