Ski Weekend Update

One more chance to get some turns in

Every year we keep on saying that April brings some of the best skiing of the season - and this year has surpassed even our own high expectations!

Take a look out our galleries to see some of the fresh snow our guests and staff (!) have been skiing in recent days.

The May bank holiday weekend sees the final weekend for our winter operations in Chamonix.

There is still good skiing to be had on the high slopes of the Grand Montets and on the Vallee Blanche. For those who are prepared to earn there turns excellent touring options are also possible.

So if you are looking for one more fix this winter, dont hesitate, give JC or Vikki a call and jet out to Geneva this weekend.

Ski Weekend ::: Specialist Courses

Ski Weekend Specialist Courses

Ski Weekend have offered a variety of ‘specialist’ courses for a number of years now, catering for a range of abilities; from skiers who wish to improve and gain confidence on the piste, to those who would like to venture off the piste, and expand their all-mountain understanding.

Each of the courses offer an exceptional opportunity to experience a notable difference in your skiing over four days, particularly as we incorporate the promise central to the Ski Weekend philosophy: to find the best snow possible and thus ensure that you have a great weekend.

We keep safety at the forefront of our considerations: local UIAGM guides, with whom we have built up good relationships over many years, and who know the mountains better than anyone, lead all the weekends that are off-piste based. We use Ortovox avalanche safety equipment: our staff are equipped and trained to use Ortovox avalanche trancievers, and carry Ortovox avalanche shovels and probes with them. Everyone who joins our off-piste weekends is briefed on avalanche search and rescue, and issued with Ortovox transceivers at the start of their course, along with a rucksack, shovel and probe. See www.ortovox.com for more information on Ortovox equipment.

For the 2006-7 season, we have expanded our selection of courses to include Piste Perfection 3, the Mont Blanc Safari, and the Samoens Explorer.

PP3 is a development of PP1 and PP2: the focus shifts towards some of the more advanced aspects of piste skiing; carving, speed, and bumps to name a few, and it also includes the opportunity to ski through a Giant Slalom course.

The Mont Blanc Safari and the Samoens Explorer courses have been designed for those of you who want to cultivate your off-piste skills in locations other than Chamonix: the Mt Blanc safari is based in the ‘Evasion Mt Blanc’ area, which includes Combleux, Megeve and St Gervais, and the Samoens Explorer course concentrates on ‘Le Grand Massif’, a huge ski area that encompasses Flaine and Les Carroz.

The group sizes for each course are between 4-6 people. For group bookings that fall within this size range, we are able to offer a highly flexible range of dates. We can provide this service if there are only 3 of you, with a small surcharge. For group bookings of 6 people, there is a 10% discount, and a free soft shell fleece from the Direct Alpine Clothing Company for the party leader.
