When can you ski in Chamonix with the Ikon Pass?
Full Ikon Pass holders can ski in Chamonix for 7 days during the 24/25 winter season, with no blackout dates.
It’s slightly different if you have the less expensive Base Pass, in which case you can ski any five days outside peak season (i.e. not during the following blackout dates: 26-31 Dec 2024, 18-19 Jan 2025 and 15-16 Feb 2025).
Can I use my existing Ikon RFID card?
Yes. If you already have your Ikon Pass, then when you come to Chamonix, you don’t need to queue up for an additional lift ticket, you can just use your existing pass at the lift gates.
Which Chamonix ski areas can I visit?
There are five different ski areas that Ikon Pass users can visit within Chamonix Mont-Blanc Valley: Grands Montets, La Balme (Le Tour/Vallorcine), Brévent, Flégère and Les Houches/St Gervais.
Each ski area has its own personality and features to enjoy. Advanced skiers flock to the steep terrain at Grand Montets, while on a snowy or overcast day the tree-lined runs of Les Houches are a great option.
The connected areas of Brévent and Flégère offer stunning views of the Mont Blanc Massif, while Balme offers gentler slopes and the chance to explore charming traditional French villages like Vallorcine.
That adds up to 29,405 acres, 67 lifts and 119 runs, so there’s no chance you’ll be bored during your stay. And with an average snowfall of 264" every winter, there’s plenty of the white stuff to enjoy.
What extra discounts are on offer?
Any visit to Chamonix has to include a trip to the Aiguille du Midi – at 3842m it’s one of the highest cable cars you can take anywhere in the world and will put you on the shoulder of Mt Blanc – Europe’s highest mountain.
You might even decide to take on the famous backcountry run known as the Vallée Blanche.
Leaving from the Aiguille du Midi, via an ice tunnel and thrilling ridge descent to the glacier, before your 20km descent to down the Mer de Glace to Montenvers, this experience has to be on every serious skier’s bucket list.
It must be skied with a guide, but we can book a qualified and experienced English-speaking guide for guests of Ski Weekend.
The Aiguille du Midi is not included with your Ikon Pass, but it will secure you an 8% discount. That discount also applies to the famous Montenvers funicular railway.
